Mr. Brainwash

For more than a decade, Thierry Guetta, under the pseudonym Mr. Brainwash, has been pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. The orchestrated collision of street art and Pop art is his balancing act.

His appearance in the acclaimed documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop represents a significant turning point for the artist. This Oscar-nominated film chronicles the evolution of the street art movement with Mr. Brainwash, who, alongside Banksy, brings art within everyone’s reach.

The artist has shaken up the art world with his innovative and fearless style. He uses traditional elements of Pop Art, bringing in the raw aesthetic of his early days in street art to create larger-than-life works.

An irreverent twist on copyright, “brainwashing” material. This may be Mr. Brainwash’s art in its simplest form. His works appropriate and juxtapose modern and historical icons, pop culture images, globally recognized brands, art history, and even the works of other artists.

 

The color, energy, and humor that Mr. Brainwash brings to the global art scene are extremely refreshing. Navigating between the worlds of celebrities, cinema, music, and sports, Mr. Brainwash has collaborated with numerous other artists and celebrities. He has designed album covers for Madonna, Rick Ross, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. His talents have been showcased in creative partnerships with major brands such as Hublot, Coca-Cola, Ray-Ban, and Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee. He has also collaborated with legendary soccer player Pelé, who joined the artist in splattering paint on some of his works.

 

Mr. Brainwash’s passion extends to his commitment to being active in the community by providing support. He continues to donate artwork to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, has created commemorative 9/11 murals to honor the victims, and has also partnered with Product RED to raise awareness about the fight against AIDS. The artist also supports organizations such as the Prince’s Trust, which helps vulnerable young people. Finally, he met with Michelle Obama to support her organization “Let Girls Learn,” which helps teenage girls continue their education and complete their studies.
