The Galerie Montmartre
Open Monday to Sunday, from 9:30am to 6:30pm
Galerie Montmartre is delighted to present James Francis Gill in its collections. Born in Texas in 1934, the artist rose to prominence in the 1960s as one of the pioneers of American Pop Art.
In 1962, his Marilyn Triptych was exhibited opposite Warhol’s diptych in the two Alan galleries in New York. Proof of its immediate success, the triptych was purchased and donated to the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA).
James Francis Gill was rediscovered in the 1990s during an interview with Smithsonian art magazine, exploring the infinite possibilities of computer design and adding a new dimension, well suited to Pop art, to his already massive body of work.
Open Monday to Sunday, from 9:30am to 6:30pm
