Gil Bruvel was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1959 and grew up in the south of France, where he discovered art at the age of 9. His father was a cabinetmaker, and Gil quickly showed an interest in wood carving, furniture design, and functional art.
In 1974, Gil began studying art restoration in Chateaurenard, France, under the tutelage of Mr. Laurent de Montcassin, where he was taught about ancient and modern masters as well as art history from the 14th to the 20th century. He then set up his studio in Saint-Rémy de Provence until 1986, when he traveled to the United States and established his permanent residence there.
Each of his experiences taught him a passion for knowledge of art and the continuous development of new ways to explore and expand his creativity.
